When I was working on a topic for my Common Application essay prompt, Mr. T supported my decision to write about this board game that I started playing with my friends, which then grew into a family time tradition with my parents. I wrote how and why this simple board game – Settler’s of Cataan – built community and brought my family and I closer. I also reflected on the lessons learned. I had a rough life as a teenager. After graduating from high school, I went to community college and earned my A.A. degree. But I wanted more! I wanted to earn a four-year degree. Counseling & Educational Philosophy

My counseling and educational philosophy is best described as student-centered delivered through wraparound support services. As a former founding director of a TRiO: Upward Bound Program designed to provide comprehensive wraparound support services for low-income and first-generation college bound high school students, I do whatever it takes to help my students advance their personal development, academic goals, and future dreams. I have a proven record of accomplishment of rallying resources around my students and families. Nobody gets left behind! Everyone advances forward one-step at a time and makes progress!

I have over 25 years professional experience working on both ends of the college application and admissions process having served as admissions counselor and assistant director in three university admissions offices and as a high school counselor for three California Distinguished public high school in Southern California. My number one priority as your college counselor will be to help you achieve your goal of getting into a great college or university. I will help you think, analyze, and reflect on your strengths and weaknesses so that you can develop your “fit profile.” With my guidance, you will create your college list. Through my counseling, you will develop and compose college essays that have depth and breadth. Lastly, with my coaching, you will complete college applications accurately and on time!
